After the Prophet Mohammed consolidated the Arabic Tribes in the early 7th century CE,
Islam stormed out of the Desert Kingdom energized by the newly revealed Holy Koran and inspired
by the stern dictates of Allah. Within 100 years this new faith spread through the ashes of the
Persian and Roman Empires, conquered the Middle East, swept across Northern Africa
and created a 700 year Cultural Empire in Southern Spain that saved the works of
Aristotle, Plato and Socrates from oblivion.

Sharing a common ancestry with the Jews and Christians,
while observing their religious traditions rooted firmly in the past, Muslims today are trying to
organize stable political systems that accommodate the economic needs of 1.6 Billion faithful
and are at peace with themselves and the outer world, a task tempered with difficult modern realities.
